Audio description is available for selected performances at the Stanley & Audrey Burton Theatre and can be accessed easily through your mobile device.
We use a Wi-Fi based system called Mobile Connect to deliver audio description to those who need it. You will still hear the music from the performance, but with the audio description over the top.
To listen to the audio description through Mobile Connect, you will need your smartphone or tablet, and some ear or headphones. Please bring these along with you.
Before your visit, you may want to prepare. You will need to download the Sennheiser Mobile Connect App from your app store. This is free to download and use and should work with your screen reader.
Once you arrive at the theatre, you will need to connect to the relevant Wi-Fi network. This will be called MobileConnect. Now open the Mobile Connect App on your device and you will be able to select Audio Description. After you've selected this, the audio description will start automatically when the performance begins. You may not be able to select Audio Description until you are in your seat.
Once you are in your seat, please turn your device to Airplane mode and turn off data. This will mean you won't be able to receive phone calls or messages (which might make noise and disturb other audience members). Mobile Connect will still work with these turned off.
Please ensure that your device is fully charged and note that using the Mobile Connect app will use a lot of your battery power. You may want to bring a portable charger with you.
